The steps given below would require your HTC Explorer to have an unlocked boot-loader (Check the HTC DEV Website for that) and to be rooted with CWM recovery installed on it. Moreover, make sure you you back up your Call Logs, Messages and Contacts because by performing the guide given below, you will be doing a factory reset. In addition to this, charge your HTC Explorer up to 90% battery level. now lets get to the real deal where we will show how you can Update and install the latest Android 4.0 ICS on your HTC Explorer or HTC Pico. As you can see the picture we have tried installing this ROM on our HTC Explorer, and this looks good.


How to Update HTC Explorer to Ice Cream Sandwich [CM9]


Step 1 - Download Ice Cream Sandwich for HTC Explorer [CM9]
 

Step 2 Download Stock Apps Here

Step 3 -Connect your phone to your PC and copy both of these files on to the root of your SD Card

Step 4 -Disconnect your phone and turn it off

Step 5 -Boot into Bootloader and then CWM Recovery by pressing and Holding Volume Down+Power Buttons, once booted, select the recovery option by pressing the power button (Remember – Use the Volume Up, Volume Down to switch between options and

Step 6 -Power Button to select the option)Step 8- First perform a NanDroid Backup so you can revert back to your HTC Explorer’s previous state whenever you want

Step 7  -Once done, Wipe data and Dalvic Chache

Step 8  Now, >flash zip from SD card>choose zip from sdcard and now select the CM9 (ICS) zip file you downloaded

Step 9 - Wait for the process to complete and then repeat the step but this time choose the Google Apps Zip file

Step 10 - 
Now the last step is to  go to ”+++++Go Back++++++” >”Reboot System Now
Now congratulate yourself because you can now taste Android 4.0.4 Icecream Sandwich  on your HTC Explorer.
